However, as one matures, they lie at one point or another. Most of us even make deception as part and parcel of the wellbeing. While the most cardinal thing to do is to be perpetually honest, in that respect it is the most daunting task to do. I concretely believe that telling the truth consistently is not entirely the better option. The reasons are premised on the following aspects.Telling a lie may save an individualà ¢Ã¢â ¬s life (Clerk 1990). Numerous research conducted by psychologist have demonstrated to us that good psychological health does have a huge positive impact on patients. For example, a friend of mine was diagnosed with a dreadful disease; the doctor opined that he could not live for more than nine months. His parents ignored the docto rà ¢Ã¢â ¬s advice and instead lied to him that he was on the road to recovery. Consequently, the patient was overwhelmed with joy, keen on his diet he took the drugs that were prescribed by the doctor. After one month he recovered greatly and was able to leave the hospital. In a nut shell, not being able to tell the truth has saved my friendà ¢Ã¢â ¬s life and strengthened his family ties.Another vital reason is that good friendship can be maintained by not telling the truth. As a habit, friends do spend time together and exchanging ideas. By taking friendsà ¢Ã¢â ¬ opinions seriously all the time, it may endanger a relationship. For instance, I and my friend go for shopping once in a while and she often asks for my opinion in regards to whether the clothes she has bought fit her or not. Of course, I am aware that she really wants to attend prom, looking gorgeous and it is not my desire to hinder her participation. For our friendship sake, I have to tell her that the clothes do look good with her, though in reality it is not of a good value. These insubstantial lies do not bring any strains in our friendship but draws us closer.Another valid reason for lying is that it is ingrained in our traditions (Ariely 2013). However, at one point in life, every person lies. Most individuals have even made lying a part of their lives. Although telling the truth may be a daunting task for many, it is the most appropriate thing to do. The reasons for this are based in the following aspects. Telling the truth provides one with psychological peace, maintains long term friendships, and can help build empires. Also, being honest can significantly contribute to saving a complicated situation in the long run.Being truthful gives one mental peace because it prevents the torment of living with guilt for telling a lie. Consequently, one does not have to remember a lie told to someone else. Psychologists assert that most people are healthy psychologically when they know the truth. Trust is also built quickly by being hones t. When a person is honest with others, trust is earned leading to stronger relationships. Studies show that dishonest individuals rarely get second chances as they are always thought to lie even when telling the truth. The strongest relationships in the society are founded on truth and transparency (Gordon 23). Lies have great potential of ruining one's friendships and families. When one fails to tell the truth, a bond is broken with those close to that person. A personsà ¢Ã¢â ¬ character can be judged by how often they tell the truth to others. The society is entirely based on the application of the truth in most if not all of its bodies (Gordon 23). The people of a nation are more confident with a government that speaks the truth and take the peoplesà ¢Ã¢â ¬ honest ju dgment. Telling lies only worsens situations in running the affairs of any nation. For instance, deception can result in political instability leading to riots due to the bleached confidence as an outcome of the lies. Lying can mislead many and harm peoplesà ¢Ã¢â ¬ feelings. The truth can save a very complicated situation. A lie told in good faith so as to avoid hurting someoneà ¢Ã¢â ¬sà ¢Ã¢â ¬ feelings can make the circumstance worse than if the truth was told (Althea, Best and Jude 102). The ultimate honesty is the essence of oneà ¢Ã¢â ¬s true self and high conscience. Therefore, the truth cannot be compromised to save a predi...
